The Artist
From an early age, Ava Rogers has been engaged in jewelry making and design, creating her first pieces when she was ten, using found objects and toys and fabricating them into earrings.
Ava graduated from SUNY Purchase College with a degree in art, where she studied sculpture and bronze casting with professor and artist, Phil Listengart. It was Phil, who showed her the possibility of jewelry as small-scale sculpture. After graduation, Ava worked in a metal foundry that specialized in lost wax casting techniques for reproducing works of art. Her interest in sculpture continues in her study of forensic sculpture which, through a combination of science and art, reconstructs facial features of an otherwise unidentified skull.
